Dr. Tara Hayes, Professor of Life Science holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Hayes is currently instructing a variety of science courses in the Degree Breadth area and the General Arts and Science program. She has worked with industrial partners such as Syncrude Canada, Suncor Canada and Placer Dome Inc. during her PhD and MSc to explore the environmental impacts of oil and mining practices on natural phytoplankton and wetland communities, along with presenting her work at major scientific conferences. Dr. Hayes has an interest in the educational landscape of Ontario and has recently been involved with the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (HEQCO) – Tuning Project and an Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT) – Pre Health Sciences initiative to guide the programs of tomorrow.
